CFC, handloom office inaugurated at Longmai

Noney, September 05 2024:
Dinganglung Gangmei, who is chairman of Hill Areas Committee, inaugurated the Common Facility Centre (CFC) & District Handlooms & Textiles Office for Noney district at Longmai on Thursday.
The building was constructed as part of the National Handloom Development Programme, funded by the Ministry of Textiles.
As chief guest of the inauguration programme, Dinganglung stated that the new centre will help create opportunities for weavers and artisans in the district, facilitate market access and contribute to the economic empowerment of the community by boosting income generation for all weavers.
The inaugural event was attended by Handlooms & Textiles director K Lamlee Kamei, Noney deputy commissioner Dr Sharath Chandra Arroju, land donor Stody Dangmei, Handloom & Textiles Noney & Tamenglong project manager Ks John, district level officers, village authority leaders, weavers, artisans, CSOs, and church leaders of Noney district.
Meanwhile, director Lamlee Kamei urged the weavers and artisans of Noney district to take advantage of the services and technology offered at the Common Facility Centre, free of charge.
Weaving machines/equipment, along with yarn, are available at the centre.
Additionally, any weaver or artisan can access services such as yarn dyeing and others, he elaborated while mentioning that weavers can avail benefit from the Chief Minister Yarn Scheme, which offers a 30 per cent subsidy on cotton and silk yarns, and a 20 percent subsidy on woollen and polyester yarns.
