World Environment Day observed across state

Like the rest of the world, World Environment Day 2023 was observed by Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office, Chandel in collabo-ration with Thoubal Forest Divi-sion at Angaan Ching Eco Park, Kakching under the theme 'Beat Plastic Pollution' on Monday.
The observance at Angaan Ching Eco Park was attended by over 70 locals the area and Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Kakch-ing district members who also participated in a tree plantation drive around the park.
The programme was attended by Thoubal divisional forest of-ficerTh Lokendro as chief guest along with Kakching range forest officer L Dinesh, CBC FO Chandel field exhibition officer M Rustum and Alliance for Development Alternative Manipur president Dilip Kshetri.
In Senapati district, Friends Across Borders (MANEDA) observed World Environment Day, 2023 in collaboration with Naamai Eco-Tourism Club and Xtreme Adventures Club on Monday at Senapati town which was marked by mass cleanliness drive in and around the town.
According to FAB coordinator Meveine Kazia, people of Sena-pati are blessed with a beautiful town but dwellers pollute the town with plastic thereby mak-ing the town messy.
Addressing the gathering, SDO Senapati Lunguiba Than-gal said people need to join the cleanliness drive but some hes-itate to lend support to such a noble.
The SDO also urged people to reach out to every nook and corner to create awareness on the importance of cleanliness in one's surrounding.
In his address, Naamai Eco-Tourism Society secretary RL Pavel stated that Senapati district headquarters has very dense population and all the cit-izens of the town should have the sense of responsibility in managing waste.
As part of the observance, around 100 youths of the town took part in tree plantation drive conducted around the town.
Bishnunaha Youth Federation Yairipok (BYFY) also observed World Environment Day under the theme of "Reduce Plastic Pol-lution" at Yairipok Bishnunaha on Monday.
Organised with the motto of "Everything Starts From Home", volunteers of the Club along with locals carried out a cleanliness cum mass tree plantation drive in and around BYFY ground, Bishnunaha Pukhri Achouba and Bishnunaha Garden.
Meanwhile, in connection with the observance of World Environment day, environmen-tal activist Manikanta Mutum of Chajing Karam planted tree saplings in Narenkonjin Hei-bok Ching and Karam area on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Manikanta urged for forgiving each other and restoring peace in the state so that everyone could thrive freely just like the leaves on the trees.
DM College of Science under Dhanamanjuri University and Directorate of Environment & Climate Change also jointly or-ganised 'World Environment Day' and planted indigenous tree saplings inside the college campus.
