Night curfew continues, curbs on shops eased

Imphal, January 29 2022: The state government extended en-forcement of night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am, while restrictions on shops and commercial establishments have been eased and allowed to open from 8 am to 5 pm except shops at Thangal, Paona Bazar and shops selling fish, poultry, poultry products, milk and fresh milk products.Shops selling fish, poultry and poultry products, milk and fresh milk products can open from 8 am to 1 pm.

In respect of Thangal and Paona Bazar, the shops can open from 7 am to 5 pm.

In an order issued Saturday, State Executive Committee chairman and chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar stated that the said measures will continue in view of the increase in number of infection by the highly mutant Covid-19 variant Omicron in the country and will re-main in force till February 28.The order also directed that micro con-tainment zones will be strictly monitored by dedicated Police Department teams and Health Department teams.

Deputy commissioners shall involve the local clubs/local bodies with specific jurisdictions.

Fresh cases of Covid-19 infections will be isolated as soon as possible and Health Department will scale up vaccina-tion, contact tracing and testing by providing additional manpower, mobility support and IEC-Advocacy, it said.

Gathering is allowed subject to maximum of 50 people or half of the capacity whichever is less in case of closed spaces and maximum of 200 persons in open spaces.

All establishments of print and electronic media and essential services and movement of their personnel are allowed during curfew, the order said.

The order further said that wearing of face masks in public places, gatherings and crowded areas is a critical Covid Appropriate Behaviour and it will be strictly enforced and violators will be penalised promptly under relevant rules.

DCs will issue necessary orders and SPs will take necessary action to implement the orders strictly.

High Court of Manipur can issue orders in respect of Judicial Courts, it added.
