SAYOL Foundation celebrates foundation day

Imphal, April 27 2025: SAYOL Foundation celebrated its 8th foundation day at the senate hall of Manipur University, Department of Earth Science, Canchipur on Saturday.

SCERT director Aheibam Romel and SAYOL Foundation chairman Elangbam Samananda attended the event as chief guest and president respectively while MU MIMS Prof Ch Ibohal Meitei, social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram, and MU Department of Teacher Education assistant professor Dr Koijam Sobita were the guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Samananda highlighted the aims and objectives of the organisation and it has been helping underprivileged people with contributions made by members as well as donors.

So far, the organisation has extended assistance to over 200 families and provided skill trainings to many, he said, and assured to sustain the efforts As part of the celebration, SAYOL State Excellence Awards 2025 were presented to two individuals in recognition of their contributions to the society.

Asatullah Tampakmayum of Urup Arapti, who is popularly known as Ishing Maiba for his extraordinary service to the society by retrieving drown victims from rivers and other waterbodies over the years, was honoured with the Sayol State Excellence Award for Humanitiarian Service.

Award for excellence in entrepreneurship was presented to Laining Solutions founder Yumkhaibam Ibomcha Meetei.
