MLA Erabot accused of inciting Khurai-Wangkhei clash

Imphal, October 25 2021: Meira Paibi associations of Kongpal Kongkham Leikai have blamed Wangkhei AC MLA Yumkham Erabot for causing the clash between Khurai and Wangkhei Assembly Constituencies near Porompat TV Tower on Sunday.

Among others, Yangoiningthou Lainingthou Meira Paibi Lup joint secretary K Sumati expressed dismay over attempts made by one Naobi of Khurai Chingabam Leirak Machin, Wangkhei AC to sow discord between the two constituencies.

A meeting of the local Meira Paibi associations was held at the Unity Club Ground in Khurai Kongpal Kongkham Leikai in connection with Sunday's incident.

Speaking at the meeting, K Sumati pointed Out that the road leading to Porompat TV Tower under Khurai AC had been in poor condition and as such, the job card holders of the constituency requested Khurai AC MLA L Susindro for mending one of the dangerous potholes along the road.

Accordingly, work was taken up to repair the pothole.

However, a fake information was spread that the dirty water was being drained into one of the local ponds, thereby leading to unruly incident, she conveyed.

Stating that it was a deliberate attempt to taint the reputation of Khurai AC MLA L Susindro, Khurai Kongpal Kongkham Leikai Awang Meira Paibi Lup secretary Th Ranjita condemned the incident and said that the two constituencies have always been involved in squabbles over that particular stretch of road leading to the TV Tower.

She further condemned the act of Meira Paibi leader Naobi on Sunday and urged the state government to look into the matter to prevent any more future issues between the two constituencies.
