Kakching, July 19 2024:
Highlighting shortage of teachers at the Kakching Higher Secondary School, aggrieved students have threatened to launch class boycott agitation from July 29 in case authorities concerned do not post adequate number of teachers to the school.
Addressing a press conference organised jointly by All Kha Kanglei Students' Union (AKKSU) and students of the higher secondary at the latter's campus on Thursday, one Salam Sonia of Class XI (Commerce stream) opined that her school is comparatively better among the government schools with a students' strength of 1000 but has been facing shortage of teaching staff for various subjects.
Chipping in AKKSU general secretary Kshetrimayum National Singh said lack of teachers at the school came to light during an inspection conducted out by its volunteers on reasons for degradation of government school despite implementation of 'School Fagathanshi Mission' by the government.
Contrary to healthy number of students enrolled the said school is facing shortage of at least 10 teachers for Physics, History, Education, Economics, Geography, Manipuri and English subjects.
AKKSU and students of the school have been demanding adequate teachers through submission of memorandums, he recalled while cautioning that protests including class boycott will be launched from July 29 if the authorities undermine genuine demand for posting teachers commensurate with strength of the students.
