Imphal, February 14 2022:
While stating that there is no alliance between BJP and JD (U) for the upcoming polls, Thangmeiband BJP candidate Jyotin Waikhom has said that any decision in this regard will be taken by the party leaders.
Addressing a press meet held at Hotel Nirmala here on Monday, Jyotin said that the sitting MLA of the constituency first joined Trinamool, then BJP, Congress and finally JD (U).
At the time of joining the parties, he (MLA) swore he was a nationalist but has been conspiring with BLOs and threatening the non-Manipuris residing in the market area that the voting rights would be revoked if they shifted to another place, just because he did not get much votes in the last polls.
"An election happens after every 5 years.
The MLA clearly has no idea what a family will face if any of its voters are cancelled.
In addition, a false propaganda is being propagated that BJP and JD (U) are one entity even though there is no alliance between the two parties.
Even if an alliance is to be forged, leaders of the party will be the ones to make the decision.
Otherwise, it is similar to two women gossiping that an unmarried man is married," he remarked.
Jyotin continued: "The MLA who joined JD(U) after failing to get the BJP ticket, is trying to portray it as an equal platform.
No MLA in the constituency ever did such a thing of cancelling the votes of non-Manipuris, who are weak and vulnerable.
This is a plan to discourage the non-Manipuris from voting in the name of the delimitation exercise.
Such dishonest and crooked politics will not be good for the future.
In the last polls, three corporators extended support to the MLA none are backing him this time around.
The ensuing polls would be teaching a lesson to the MLA" .
The BJP candidate then urged the people not to vote for the MLA who had jumped ship 4 times; as such an insincere and disloyal leader would usher in an early political demise of Thangmeiband AC.
Apart from failing to properly utilise around Rs 30 lakh of Covid funds sanctioned by the government, the MLA did not open any Covid Care Centre in the Constituency.
He also took the credit for distribution of free rice during the pandemic, not to mention of the fund misappropriation amidst the confusion.
Meanwhile, he made a show of feeding the non-Manipuri migrants for one whole month using his private money, while using the donated money meant for the constituency in distributing some Covid-relief items.
