Imphal, June 13 2024:
The Manipur Chapter of Association of Healthcare Providers, India (AHPI) has expressed concern over the increasing violence and intimidation against healthcare service providers and hospital staff in the state and appealed to the government to address these issues.
In a statement, AHPI Manipur highlighted the concerning trend of dissatisfied patients and their relatives resorting to aggression within hospital premises rather than seeking proper redressal through appropriate channels.
It emphasised the importance of addressing grievances through hospital authorities and pursuing legal action in cases of medical complications or fatalities.
Noting that the ongoing violence is creating a climate of fear among healthcare professionals, which may deter them from handling complex cases, the Association cautioned that such a trend could result in a significant number of patients seeking medical treatment outside the state, adversely affecting healthcare services in Manipur.
As such, AHPI Manipur Chapter appealed to the state government and its law enforcement departments to take immediate measures to curb the violence against healthcare providers.
The association also conveyed its prayer for early restoration of normalcy in the state.
