Jiribam issue figures at CWC meet

Imphal, June 09 2024:
MPCC president K Meghachandra presented a brief report on the fresh eruption of violence since June 6 in Jiribam district as part of the ongoing violence in the state since May 3, 2023 during the extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meet held at New Delhi and urged party high command to protect and safeguard the interests of the people of Manipur, both inside and outside the Parliament.
Meghachandra also proposed Rahul Gandhi to be Leader of Opposition (LoP) during the CWC meet held at Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi from 11am Saturday and raised the issues of Manipur violence and urged party leaders to shoulder responsibility towards bringing a solution to the crisis at the earliest.
He also appreciated Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra that began from Thoubal which has led to triumph of two Congress MPs from Manipur.
He also shared the serious commitment of Rahul Gandhi towards peace and harmony in the state.
CLP leader Okram Ibobi Singh also attended the extended CWC meet.
Later, newly elected Members of Parliament Alfred Kangam S Arthur and professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam were introduced by the MPCC to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, informed a release of MPCC organisation secretary Amir Hussain.
