Imphal, July 08 2024:
Thiimziih Teen Buiuur Ruwrkheh (Moyon Naga Students' Union) has expressed shock and displeasure, condemning in the strongest terms an attempt to tarnish the Moyon tribe's image and integrity by a dubious organisation named Chingburoi Tamburoi Apunba Lup.
The condemnation follows the release of a circular dated July 3, 2024, titled 'Fact Finding Team's Report on Manipur Crisis,' attributed to a person named Kenny Roel.
TTBR, in a statement, said that the circular's content is offensively misogynistic and a character assassination attempt against the Chandel MLA, while also maligning the Moyon tribe.
The use of the Moyon name "Kenny Roel" from social media was purportedly intended to create panic and communal tensions within the Moyon and Naga tribes during this precarious time in Manipur.
TTBR clarified that the person named 'Kenny Roel' of Chingburoi Tamburoi Apunba Lup is not related to any social media accounts named Kenny Roel or any Moyon person.
They interpreted such act aS a deliberate attempt to exploit and malign the integrity of the Moyon tribe and the entire Naga community, while disturbing the peaceful environment of Chandel district.
The union strongly condemned the deceptive actions of Chingburoi Tamburoi Apunba Lup for impersonating the Moyon tribe to make prejudiced, anti-woman remarks against the Chandel MLA and misleading the public with a sham report to defame the integrity of the Chief Ministers of Manipur and Assam, along with other political leaders.
They called the act shameful and deserving of serious attention from law enforcement agencies to identify, book, and prosecute the misinformation spreaders at the earliest.
A complaint report has been filed at Chandel police station on Sunday, against this cybercrime of misuse and impersonation.
The TTBR urged the government to take immediate action against the perpetrators, considering the seriousness of the matter.
TTBR also cautioned individuals and groups against misusing and impersonating Nagas to publish baseless incriminating factoids, which could instigate communal misunderstandings and tensions.
