MU research scholars' meet begins

A 3-day research scholars' meet-2022, organised by Research Club, Manipur University under the theme 'Culture and its representation in research with Aribam Syam Sharma', commenced from Wednesday at the lecture hall-1 of Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), MU.
MU research and development cell director professor Warjit and Manipur University Students' Union president Sanasam Steven attended the opening ceremony as chief guest and president respectively while Students* Welfare dean professor M Premjit and renowned filmmaker Aribam Syam Sharma were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, research scholar Valentina Maisnam pointed out that Manipur University is still ranked lowly among the universities of the country as per the National Institute Ranking Framework even though it had produced several successful people in both at national and international levels.
So, the meet has been organised with the objective to explore the possibilities of making contribution from the over 1600 research scholars of the university in improving its ranking, she said.
Aribam Syam Sharma's films 'Orchids of Manipur' and 'Isanou' were screened as part of the event.
Later, a panel discussion cum interaction between research scholars of the university and Syam Sharma was held with head of sociology department, MU professor Ksh Rajendra as moderator.
