Health director appeals voters to follow Covid CAB

Imphal, February 27 2022:
In connection with the first phase of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election on Monday, an Assembly Rapid Response Team (ARRT) and a Helicopter Rapid Response Team (RRT) has been put on standby to deal with any emergency cases as well as ensure strict observance of Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) .
Speaking to The People's Chronicle in this regard, Health director Dr K Rajo informed that the gathering of people for voting on Monday could lead to spread of Covid-19 .
As such, he urged the people to strictly observe CAB including maintaining social distance and using mask and sanitisers, while further urging people not to gather without reason.
Informing that a memorandum has been issued to the MS and CMOs of districts/sub-districts, managing directors of private hospitals, health centres and health providers to extend free treatment to security and polling personnel on poll duty, if required; Dr Rajo said that expenses would be borne by Health department.
He continued: "In this regard, 60 ARRTs have been formed, with each team consisting of CAB-trained 2 doctors, 2 health workers and 2 MTS.
They would be directly communicating with the polling officers and ambulances are also on standby for emergency situations.
Additionally, two Helicopter RRTs are also on standby, with 4 medical staff, 6 paramedical staff and 6 MTS each, for faraway polling stations, Manipur is the first state to have ARRT and Helicopter RRT on standby for election purposes, and has been lauded by ECI for this.
Moreover, polling stations are being provided hand sanitizer and face masks along PPE kits" .
