Imphal, April 26 2024:
Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI) on Friday inaugurated its new cutting-edge Super Specialty Outpatient Department (OPD) block at its Langol complex.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Manipur University vice chancellor Prof N Lokendra Singh as chief guest, registrar Prof W Chandbabu Singh as guest of honour, and SHRI chairman cum managing director Dr Palin Khundongbam as president.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Lokendra disclosed that discussion will soon be held for publication of referral journal for medical colleges affiliated to the university, after consultation with the researchers of the colleges and medical experts.
Noting that medical science is a field in which new advancements or developments are made every hour, he commended Shija Hospital for using the latest technologies to treat and heal patients.
In his speech, Dr Palin informed that the newly inaugurated Super Specialty OPD block stands as a testament to Shija Hospital's unwavering dedication to providing advanced medical care to its patients.
With state-of-the-art facilities and unwavering focus on patient-centric service, the block will serve as a beacon of hope for those in need of specialised medical attention.
By offering OPD facilities for Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery, Cardiology, Critical Care, Plastic Surgery, Medical gastroenterology, Nephrology, Neurology, Surgical Oncology, and Urology, Shija aims to address the diverse healthcare needs of our community with precision and compassion, said the director.
He continued that the decision to establish the new Super Specialty OPD Block stems from the hospital's commitment to enhancing the patients' experience and optimising the delivery of care.
By decentralising its super-specialty OPDs and minimising overcrowding in the existing facilities, the hospital ensures greater accessibility and convenience for patients, enabling them to receive timely, affordable and personalised care in a conducive environment.
Apart from this, the hospital is one of the many empanelled hospitals under CMHT, PMJAY and other health insurance schemes, maintained Dr Palin.
While the Hospital already has opened a PG course under Ministry of Health, efforts are underway to open a similar course under National Medical Commission (NMC).
Meanwhile, medical tourism in the state has stagnated a bit due to the prevailing situation.
Nonetheless, efforts are underway to bring the advance technology and quality in the hospital on par with the hospitals in Delhi and other states, in addition to providing patients with benefits of digital transformation, he said.
Dr Palin then informed that Shija Hospital has been included in the top 25 hospitals listed by Industry, Insights magazine.
