Ukhrul, December 20 2024:
In a bid to foster sustainable employment opportunities, Shubhaan Foundation provided a free chocolate-making training and conducted chocolate production sessions for women trainees in Ukhrul town.
On Friday, the Foundation organised a practical chocolate production workshop in collaboration with the Tangkhul Tribal Women Cooperative (TTWC), supported by the Tangkhul Naga Baptist Convention (TNBC) .
During the session held at the TNBC office in Phungreitang, participants engaged in the hands-on process of crafting chocolates in various flavours, including chili, lemon, and orange.
These delectable treats are intended for sale during the Christmas season to help the women enhance their incomes.
In an interaction with The People's Chronicle, S Nandei, the founder of Shubhaan Foundation, emphasised the organisation's commitment to creating sustainable employment across the Northeast region, specifically targeting the states of Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Upper Assam.
Nandei noted that the chocolate production workshop followed an initial chocolate-making training conducted earlier in November.
He explained that the necessary ingredients for chocolate making were sourced from outside the state and provided to the trainees, who would be selling their products during the festive season to augment their earnings.
Co-founder Dr Kshetrimayum Vedmani added that the Foundation is currently concentrating its efforts on Ukhrul district, with a specific focus on empowering local women through chocolate-making skills to support long-term employment generation.
