Thoubal, October 20 2024:
In response to the unwar ranted monetary demands imposed on public transporters, aggrieved passenger vehicle drivers of Thoubal district staged a sit-in protest at Heirok Lamkhai near Wangjing Kodompokpi on Sunday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest organised by Thoubal District Transporters' Union (TDTU), a driver protester disclosed that unreasonable demands have been imposed on vehicles providing passenger services in Thoubal district, taking undue advantage of the on going crisis in the state.
"Unable to bear these monetary demands any longer, the passenger service providers staged a sit-in protest," the driver reasoned and urged all organisations and individuals working for the welfare of the state to refrain from such actions against Tata Magic drivers and transporters under the guise of the crisis.
The protesters carried placards with messages such as 'Stop imposing unreasonable demands in the name of the present crisis', 'Do not make monetary demands as a business in the name of the crisis', 'Point guns towards enemies', and 'We want peace' .
