Thoubal, November 19 2024:
While opposing the Congress party's stand that all its five would resign, if needed, in response to the ongoing crisis in the state, a public meeting held at Bishnunaha Mayai Leikai community hall stressed that time has not yet arrived for the Congress MLAs to step down.
The meeting was attended by a large number of people from various localities within the Thoubal assembly constituency.
Speakers expressed that, during the ongoing crisis in the state over the past 18 months, the state government has failed to fulfil its duties, even as the opposition Congress party had been making proactive efforts both inside the assembly and outside the state on behalf of the people.
"This fact is well known to the people of Manipur," they pointed out and urged the opposition MLAs not to resign but intensify their efforts and take stronger actions for the welfare of the state s future generations.
They also pointed out that as the ruling MLAs are unwilling to resign there is no valid reason for the Congress legislators to undermine the people's mandate.
They said that when the ruling MLAs are ready to resign, the resignation papers for the Congress MLAs will be brought forward by the public.
