Imphal, October 15 2024:
While welcoming the initiative of the Centre to hold peace talk among the Meetei, Naga and Kuki legislators in New Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Manipur emphasised that such dialogue process should prioritise a secure environment for the sake of the future generation.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here on Tuesday, AAP Manipur activity coordinator Bishwanath Thingnam termed as significant and commendable that Union home minister Amit Shah is keen to bring together Meetei, Naga and Kuki legislators for threadbare discussion on the ethnic violence raging in the state for over one and half year.
As the peace talk is crucial to maintain the territorial integrity of Manipur, it should be conducted for the sake of future generations, he said adding that AAP will not accept any resolution which would compromise territorial integrity of the state.
According to Bishwa nath, legislators involved in the peace talk must place charter of demand with the main focus on protecting territorial integrity of Manipur to the Centre rather than instinctively endorsing whatever policy the government of India formulates to address the issue.
He also said that the legislators should pressurise the Centre for abrogation of Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militants.
