Worker abducted, firm seeks security

Imphal, May 10 2024:
A construction worker of Bharatiya Infra Projects Limited, engaged in construction of Henglep road in Churachandpur district, has been abducted by armed men.
According to Waari Singbul Network, the construction worker identified as Chandra Pathak is believed to have been abducted by cadres of the armed United Kuki National Army (UKNA) as the construction company received an extortion letter from UKNA with the demand of five percent of the contract rate.
The company is currently engaged in widening of the Henglep road.
Meanwhile, the construction company has urged the government to provide security cover to safeguard its men and machines while citing extortion and threats by UKNA cadres.
