One held with Heroin worth Rs 3 cr

Bishnupur, January 10 2022: A team of Bishnupur district police commando arrested a man with 578 gm of Heroin worth Rs 3 crore from Pangal Lamkhai on Sunday.

The arrested man has been identified Md Munan Khan (42) s/o Md Abdul Karim of Kwakta Terakhongsangbi Ward No 1 .

Briefing media persons in this regard at his office on Monday, Bishnupur SP N Herojit informed that after receiving an input about transportation of contraband drugs from Churachandpur to Kwakta along Tiddim road, a commando team carried out frisking and checking at Kwakta.Lamkhai on Sunday.

During the operation, the team spotted a man carrying a blackcolour polythene in a suspicious manner in front of Life Care Pharmacy, Kwakta Pangal Lamkhai crossing around 6.30 pm.

On checking the contents of the polythene, the Heroin consignment weighing 578 gm and packed in 49 soap cases were found.

The drugs are estimated to be worth around Rs 3 crore in the international market.

A Jio Phone was also recovered from Munan's possession.

The man along with the seized items has been handed over to Moirang police station for further necessary legal action, the SP conveyed.
