Fate of 22 candidates in Bishnupur to be decided today

Bishnupur, March 09 2022: With 1,81,715 voters exercising their franchise rights in the first phase election to choose their representatives from six assembly constituencies in Bishnupur district, the fate of 22 candidates in fray will be decided on Thursday.

Counting of votes for the six constituencies in the district will be done at New Mini secretariat complex multipurpose hall, from 7am Thursday.

Strict security measures have been put in place to ensure smooth counting of the votes.

The six ACs are Nambol, Oinam, Bishnupur, Moirang, Thanga and Kumbi.

For Nambol AC, it is a straight fight between BJP candidate Thounaojam Basantakumar and INC's Nameirakpam Loken.

The votes of 33,566 voters will decide who would become the elected representative from the AC.

Seven candidates are in fray for the seat of Oinam AC.

The fate of BJP's L Radhakishor Khuman, NPP's 1 Nalini Devi, JDU's Th Swarankumar, RPI's L Brojen Singh, INC's Th Ithoibi, Shiv Sena's A Babu and independent candidate Th Ithoibi Devi will be decided by the votes of 28,237 electorates.

For Bishnupur AC, it is a triangular fight between BJP candidate Govindas Konthoujam, JDU candidate Oinam Nabakishor and Ningthoujam Joykumar of INC.

A total of 31,553 votes will decide who will be representative of the constituency.

For Moirang AC, where 38,843 votes were cast, it is also a triangular fight and who among the three candidates, namely M Prithviraj Singh of BJP, Th Santi Singh of NPP and P Saratchandra Singh of INC, will become the elected representative will be decided by the maximum number of votes they could get during the counting on Thursday.

For the seat of Thanga AC, BJP candidate Tongbram Robindro Singh and INC candidate Birla Haobijam are in fray and a total of 22,745 votes were cast on the poll day.

Five candidates are in contest for the seat of Kumbi AC.

The candidates in fray are BJP candidate Sanasam Premchandra, INC candidate Dr Kh Romesh, NPP candidate N Mangi Singh, independent candidate N Sorojini Devi and JDU candidate A Sanjoy Singh.

A total of 27,771 will decide the future of the candidates.
