Imphal, November 08 2024:
Wakhallon Mannaba Apunba (WAMA) Kangleipak has appealed to the state government to initiate measures to allow state students to take UPSC examinations in Meetei Mayek (MM) .
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club here on Friday, WAMA president Moirangthem Naokhamba regretted that inspite of Meetei Mayek replacing Bengali script up to the PhD level, Manipuri language is still represented by Bengali script in the UPSC examinations, thereby posing a significant issue for state students.
As such, the state government should take up necessary steps to replace Bengali script with Meetei Mayek for Manipuri language in UPSC examinations from 2025, he stated and also demanded the state government to ensure allotment of UPSC exam centre in the state.
