Capacity building prog for college teachers underway

A weeklong capacity building programme for college teachers under the theme ' Nursery Rhymes and Development of Educational Toys for College Teachers', which is being jointly organised by State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Manipur and directorate of university and higher education, Manipur, commenced from Monday at the multipurpose hall of SCERT, Lamphelpat, here.
Altogether 31 teachers from different colleges are participating in the training programme which was inaugurated with Directorate of university and higher education OSD Nongmaithem Ajit, SCERT Manipur head Jim G Thingujam and academic officer A Rajeshwar as members of the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, Nongmaithem Ajit informed that there will be several changes in the syllabus when National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is implemented fully as IT education and skill development courses will be added in the syllabus apart from others.
In view of the imminent changes, teachers need to upgrade their knowledge, which is why the training programme is being organised, he said.
The OSD also stressed on the need for understanding the changes that will come after NEP 2020 and take up measures to make necessary changes in order to adapt to the new system.
He also said that the directorate is open to suggestions from the teachers in this regard.
In his address, Jim G Thingujam spoke on the importance of having knowledge of nursery rhymes and making educational toys among the teachers while thanking the directorate for its support in organising the programme.
