SFs recover arms, ammo; arrest three

Imphal, February 04 2025: Joint security forces recovered arms and explosives in multiple operations across different districts and also arrested individuals linked to armed organisations and extortion activities, police reports said.

On Tuesday, security personnel recovered one AK-47 rifle with magazine and five rounds, a 2-inch mortar, two SMG carbines with two magazines, two country-made 9mm pistols with magazines, three HE hand grenades without detonators, two lEDs, 20 explosive gelatine sticks, and five 9mm rounds from Phougakchao Mamang Leikai, in the adjoining area of Koibung near the banks of Khuga River under Phougakchao Ikhai police station in Bishnupur district.

Recoveries made on Monday from Moirangpurel Khunou Leikai under Thoubal Dam PS in Imphal East district included one 4 kg IED, one 2 kg IED, and approximately 35 metres of Cordtex while on Sunday security forces recovered one 9mm pistol with magazine, a country-made AK-47 rifle with magazine, one country made .303 rifle, one country-made 12 bore rifle with 80 cartridges, six 9mm rounds, 40 rounds of 7.62mm, and three 7.65mm rounds from general area of Duthang Laiching track under Tengnoupal PS in Tengnoupal district.

In another operation on Tuesday, a joint security team detained one Pukhrambam Prem alias Hopson (47) son of Birachandra of Ningthoukhong Ward No 13 during an operation.

Upon questioning, he revealed of joining the proscribed RPF/ PLA in 1998 and completing six months basic military training in Myanmar.

He further disclosed of collecting Rs 1.20 lakh in September 2024 from Nambol, Bishnupur, and Ningthoukhong areas.

The security forces seized three mobile phones, a wallet containing Rs 320 in cash, a driving license, a PAN card, an Aadhaar card, a UCO Bank debit card, and an Airtel Payment Bank card from the possession of Prem, who has been handed over to Bishnupur PS.

Meanwhile, police arrested one Telheiba Ningombam (31) alias Ken from near Khoyathong crematorium under City PS in Imphal West district on Sunday.

A 9mm pistol along with a magazine loaded with four live rounds, one mobile phone, one Aadhaar card, and a four-wheeler were seized from him.

On Monday, security forces arrested an active cadre of KCP (MC) Progressive from Singjamei Thokchom Leikai under Singjamei PS in Imphal West district.

The arrested individual, identified as Khangembam Bipin Singh (50) son of late Kh Iboyaima of Singjamei Thongam Leikai, was allegedly involved in extortion activities.

Security forces recovered one two-wheeler, one mobile phone, and one four-wheeler from his possession.
