Kids perform street play to spread awareness on diarrhea

In connection with the observance of Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight under National Rural Health Mission, students of Beirodan Maxwell Hindi Primary School, Imphal displayed a street play to generate public awareness on diarrhea at Thangal Bazar here today.
The street play was performed at a spot between Ema market I and II in Thangal Bazar area under the supervision of Dr..SBimolakumari, CMO of Imphal West district and Khwairakpam Sunita, Head Mistress of Beirodan Maxwell Hindi Primary school.

Talking to media on the sidelines, Dr.Bimolakumari stated that Intensified Diarrhea Control Fortnight is being observed with the aim of preventing children below 5 years from Diarrhea ailment.
The street play gives the message on various measures for prevention and control of Diarrhea among children, she added.
Imphal West district has around 66,000 children below 5 years of age, she disclosed.
Informing that counters have been opened for providing ORS and Zinc tablets free of cost at 8 PHCs, 2 CHCs, 2 Urban Health Centres and 50 sub centres of Imphal West district, the CMO called upon the parents to administer ORS and Zinc tablets as soon as a child begins to develop loose motion, which could be the onset diarrhea.
