UGs netted, weapons recovered in joint operations

Imphal, April 27 2025:
Indian Army and Assam Rifles formation under Spear Corps in coordination with Manipur police, CRPF, BSF and ITBP launched a series of intelligence-based operations in the hill and valley districts namely Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Imphal East, Senapati, Kakching and Bishnupur between April 19 to 26 resulting in apprehension of 16 cadres and recovery of 27 weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
According to PRO IGAR (S), on April 19, Assam Rifles and Manipur police launched joint operation in areas nearby Yangoubung and T Bongmol villages in Tengnoupal district and uncovered a hideout containing explosives, including multiple metal and plastic improvised explosive devices (IEDs) weighing around 22 kg, ammunition and war like stores.
The IEDs were destroyed in situ, and the recovered items handed over to Manipur police.
In Churachandpur district, operation launched by Indian Army and Manipur police on April 24 in general area of Teijang, lead to the recovery of a 9mm sub machine gun, a single barrel rifle, three Improvised mortars (Pompi), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
On the same day in the general area of Taphou Kuki, in Senapati district, a joint operation resulted in recovery of four bolt action single barrel rifles and ammunition, the PRO informed.
Further, joint operation in the general area of Nambol in Bishnupur district, resulted in apprehension of an over ground worker (OGW), recovery of an AK 56, ammunition and war like stores.
On the same day, Indian Army, in coordination with Manipur police, launched search operation in Thamnapokpi area of Bishnupur district, leading to the recovery of one carbine machine gun, one .303 rifle, two 9mm pistols, four single barrel rifles, grenades, two improvised explosive devices weighing 2.200 kg and 1.700 kg, ammunition and war like stores, the PRO informed.
On April 26, Indian Army, in coordination with the Manipur police launched a joint operation in the general area of Moltingcham (2.5 km SE of Sugnu) in Churachandpur district, recovering one self-loading rifle (SLR), two single barrel rifles, one bolt action rifle, four modified long-range mortars (Pompi), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
Joint operations by the security forces in hill and valley districts resulted in the apprehension of 16 cadres of different groups along with recovery of a pistol, mobile phones, two-wheelers and currency, the PRO informed, adding, the apprehended cadres and the recovered items have been handed over to Manipur police.
