Ukhrul, February 19 2025:
Tangkhul Frontal Organisations have called off the agitation against the transfer of Ukhrul deputy commissioner Zuringla Kengoo on Wednesday.
The development came after an understanding was reached during a meeting between the state's chief secretary and representatives of the TFOs, led by the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) in Imphal on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by the Media Cell of TNL & its Frontal Organisations, the decision to end the agitation was taken after the chief secretary assured the CSO representatives of addressing public grievances in the coming days.
The chief secretary had earlier scheduled a meeting with the CSOs for February 20 but was preponed to Wednesday in light of the disruption caused by the agitation to district administrative functions.
During the meeting, the chief secretary discussed various issues with the CSO representatives, especially the agitation which lasted 20 days, except a brief suspension following assurances from the chief minister that the matter would be reconsidered; the statement said.
Meanwhile, the CSOs have extended their gratitude to the leaders of various frontal organisations for their participation in the protest, as well as to the public for their steadfast support in ensuring success of the agitation - which they claimed - was launched solely in the interest of the public and humanity.
