Lecture on career guidance, anti-drugs conducted

Loktak Battalion organised a career guidance programme for the youth on Monday in collaboration with Bishnupur District Senior Citizen Welfare Association to bridge the gap between civil population and Assam Rifles.
While informing that the Battalion found the pressing need to guide the youth keep away from the menace of drug abuse menace and to help them choose the right path, PRO IGAR (S) said in a release that two former ministers, chairman of Manipur Human Rights Commission, a serving MLA and several educationists also attended the event and addressed the gathered youth.
Along with felicitation of students, who excelled in academics studies and sports, on the occasion to motivate them, dignitaries and resource persons present exhorted the youth to join the Indian Armed Forces and Assam Rifles while Loktak battalion assured the youth, numbering over 300, free guidance, registration and coaching classes for written and physical tests.
Meanwhile, Phundrei battalion of IGAR (South) organised a motivational lecture at Sanatombi High School, Keirak in Kakching district on Monday to encourage the youth to join Indian Army as an officer.
During the awareness lecture students were acquainted with the career opportunities in the Indian armed forces which included details like role of officer in armed forces, life style in army, types of entries, procedure under each entry, qualifications required to apply for such posts, the PRO said in another release, adding that, 30 students attended the said lecture.
On the other-hand, Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (South) organised a lecture on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan for the youth of S Khulien village in Churachandpur district on Monday to motivate the youth and educate them about the ill effects of drug abuse.
The lecture also highlighted on the importance of yoga, sports to fight against drug abuse, said the PRO, adding that total of 20 youths of S Khulien village attended the lecture and applauded the efforts of Assam Rifles for providing such fruitful events.
