MLA Joykisan begins road repair works

Imphal, September 05 2024: Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan has begun repair work of the road stretch from Fisheries gate to Neikanlong, also known locally as Savio Road, from Wednesday onwards.

Following huge public pressure, the MLA had earlier assured of repairing the road with or without the government sanction by September 5.The MLA, along with members of local clubs and Meira Paibi groups on Thursday assessed progress of the repair work.

Interacting with the locals, the MLA said that the road was left behind unattended due to some technical errors in the tender process for the proposed Imphal Ring Road.

Despite this situation, he acknowledged the public inconveniences and took up the responsibility of repairing the road with expenses from own sources since it cannot be left unattended.

Stating that met works minister Govindas Konthoujam on Wednesday to discuss issues concerning the road, during which the minister assured of resolving the matter soon, the MLA noted that the Sinam Leikai road was also blacktopped not long ago but dug out while executing the sewerage project.

The road will be renovated soon, he assured.

Joykisan also promised renovation of the road from Lairenhanjaba Leikai to Hijam Leikai including the side drains.

Even though the state is facing unprecedented crisis, development works should not stop, he stressed.
