YTSMCL celebrates 32nd foundation day

Thoubal, January 05 2025: Along with handing over the Khorirol award, the 32nd foundation day of Yairipok Thambalnu Sahitya Marup cum Library (YT-SMCL) was celebrated at its Yairipok Bamol Leikai office on Sunday.

The celebration was attended by MPCC president and Wangkhem MLA Keisham Meghachandra and YT-SMCL president Rajendra Mutum as chief guest and president respectively while Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi Manipuri Language Advisory Board former convenor professor Huirem Behari, YTSMCL founder Raghubir Thiyam and Mutum Shama Devi were the guests of honour.

As part of the function, floral tributes were offered to the photos of Dr Thiyam Romesh, who donated land for the office of YTSMCL, and those who laid down their lives for safeguard of Manipur's territorial integrity, along with observing one minute's silence as a mark of respect.

The "Dr Romesh Kumar Thiyam Ningshing Khorirol Mana 2024" was also handed over to writer Thangjam Ibopishak of Wangkhei Thangjam Leikai for his book of poetry "Numitna Chingya Thanglakle", consisting of shawl, citation and cash prize.

A poem recitation programme was also held as part of the event.
