WoD: Brown sugar, WY tablets, heroin seized from different places

Imphal, July 31 2022: The police arrested at least four drug smugglers along with 106 gram of brown sugar, six thousand WY tablets and 179 gram of heroin worth around 8,17,000 in the local market from different locations in the last 24 hours.

According to police sources, the value of the seized brown sugar, WY tablets and heroin is worth around Rs 1,59,000, Rs 3,00,000 and Rs 3,58,000 respectively in the local market and it is 10 times more in the international market.

Today, a team of Imphal East commandos arrested one drug smuggler along with 6 thousand WY tablets and 50 grams of brown sugar from the eastern gate of Dhanamanjuri University today.

The arrested person has been identified as Md Firoj Khan (36), s/o (L) Hesamuddin Khan of Mayang Imphal Bengoon Yangbi.

According to source, the commandos carried out a random frisking and checking drive at the North AOC area on receiving inputs about the presence of a drug smuggler there.

During the drive, Md Firoj Khan was detained near the eastern gate of Dhanamanjuri University and from his possession six thousand WY tablets and 50 gram of brown sugar were seized.

On spot interrogation, the arrested person revealed that the seized drugs were brought to North AOC to be handed over to one unknown person on the advice of Md Aziz Khan, a resident of Mayang Imphal.

The arrested person has been handed over to Imphal Police Station along with the seized drugs.

In another instance, a combined team of Bishnupur commandos, Moirang police and a column of 16 Assam Rifles arrested a 28 year old man along with 16 soap cases containing 179 gram of heroin powder last night from Kwakta Ward number 1.The team identified the arrested youth as Md Salim Ahamad Tampakmayum, s/o Md Nazir Khan of Kwakta Ward no 8.Md Salim has been handed over to Moirang police station along with the seized heroin.

Churachandpur police also arrested two drug peddlers from different locations along with four soap cases containing 56 gram of brown sugar and other articles yesterday evening.

According to police, the two drug peddlers were arrested from Ngathal Village and Tuibong areas in Churachandpur district and they have been identified as Kiyam Naoba Singh alias Rajesh (26), s/o K Deben Singh of Zion Veng Tuibong and Thanglenmang Haokip (26), s/o Theng-kholun Haokip of Phouljang Village, Churachandpur.

Reportedly, 42 gram of brown sugar was confiscated from the possession of Kiyam Naoba while another 14 gram of brown sugar was seized from Thanglenmang Haokip.

A case has been registered at Churachandpur police station.
