Imphal, April 23 2024:
The proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Nong-drenkhomba) clarified that the outfit had no involvement in activities or incidents related to the recent election conducted by India in Manipur.
Expressing concern over the unprecedented incidents of violence in the just concluded election, a statement of KCP-Nongdrenkhomba said negligence by India for the people of Manipur was demonstrated with the forcible conduct of election at a time when people are yet to live peacefully and return to normalcy.
The outfit has no reason to join the India-sponsored election in Manipur and this must be understood by the people.
However, it would be worth discussing how people were dragged into election as if it would bring back peace and normalcy and why organisations fully committed for the causes of the people were assumed to be associated with activities of the government, the statement said.
While asserting that the outfit will never compromise with its responsibility to safeguard people and protect the land, the KCP-Nongdrenkhomba statement reiterated that it was unrelated with any of the unwanted incidents occurred in the recent election.
The outfit also appealed all concerned to stop criticising one another through the media at the present crucial juncture but rather help in the outfit's efforts to safeguard the people and land.
