Skilling projects making progress: Dingo

Skill, Labour & Employment and Entrepreneurship minister Heikham Dingo has informed that concerted efforts are being made with the teams of district commissioners for proper implementation of skill development projects across the state.
The minister made the statement during a State Level Consultation Workshop organised by Manipur Society for Skill development (MSSD) under Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) at City Convention Centre, here Monday.
Speaking as the chief guest, minister Dingo iterated that various skill development projects, awareness and training programmes are being conducted under the MSSD, which is the nodal agency of SSDM, so as to enable talented youth to become self-employed.
Under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), MSSD launched the Skill Development Initiative Scheme (SDIS), which is now being halted.
So far, under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 2.0), 21,457 trainees have been enrolled, over 21,000 trained, 18,293 certified and 8741 are now having jobs of their own.
In addition to this, under the Chief Ministergi Sotharabasinggi Tengbang (CMST), MSSD has been coordinating with Department of Social Welfare in organising skill development training programmes for Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
As of now, 498 trainees have enrolled under this project/scheme, all of whom have been trained and certified.
The District Skill Committees (DSCs) led by deputy commissioners play key roles in successful implementation of the said projects, he added.
The consultative workshop was also attended by Skill, Labour & Employment and Entrepreneur-ship secretary B John Tlangtinkhu-ma and additional secretary Hannah Kahmei.
