KEDO celebrates 18th foundation day
Manipur does not lack jobs but diligent workers: Uttam

Imphal, April 20 2025:
There is no paucity of jobs in Manipur for those who truly want to work.
However, there is no job for those who are indolent and unambitious, said MAHUD and IPR director Ng Uttam.
He made the statement as the chief guest at the 18th foundation day celebration of Kanglei Economic Development Organisation (KEDO) at GM Hall here on Sunday.
The function was also attended by KEDO president Soibam Maniton, MA OBC & SC director Bunty Konthoujam, Imphal West deputy SPCDO Maibam Sudhirkumar Meitei and others.
Point out that one has to understand own talent and choose career of choice, Uttam expressed remorse over people giving up under the excuse of having no work without even making an effort.
It is only those who are diligent, ambitious and responsible who go on to become successful in the future, he added.
Emphasising the need for to keep One's egos in check, the chief guest said that humility would go a long way and the same should be cultivated in the younger generations.
He then urged all to encourage the emerging young entrepreneurs of the state and stop trying to pull down each other.
He also stressed the need to stop the herd mentality but try to be creative and unique as to help prevent collective losses in case of any failure.
Delivering the keynote speech, general secretary Thokchom Surchandra recounted how KEDO was established and its efforts till date.
He continued that it is no longer the time for educated youth to waste away their life on the excuse of not getting jobs, adding that we one cultivate own talents and skills to become self-employed.
As part of the function, the 7th souvenir of KEDO was released.
Later, Thokchom Surchandra launched the Kanglei Chakhum and Catering Services, and announced the commencement of service from Sunday onwards.
