NCW team, CAPF troopers arrive

National Commission for Women (NCW) member secretary Meenakshi Negi, along with member Dr Archana Majumdar arrived here on Tuesday for meeting the chief secretary, the DGP, and other senior government officials regarding the recent deaths of three women and three children in Jiribam, which has raised serious concerns about the safety and security of women and children in the state.
Informing this, a press statement issued by Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) said that during the visit, Dr Archana also visited the relief camp at Lamboi Khongnangkhong and interacted with the displaced persons in the camp.
MSCW chairperson, members, and officials also accompanied Dr Archana, the statement added.
On the other-hand, personnel of the additional 50 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) despatched by the Union Home Ministry to contain the volatile law and order situation have started arriving to the state.
As per sources, the security review meeting on Manipur chaired by Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday decided to deploy 50 more companies of CAPF and accordingly some personnel reached landed at Imphal airport in Indian Air Force planes.
As of late Tuesday evening, four companies of CRPF and two companies of BSF have reached Imphal with the remaining companies are expected arrive in Imphal by Wednesday or Thursday.
