Candidate aspirant honours Singjamei artistes

Artistes residing within the jurisdiction of Singjamei assembly constituency were honoured in a solemn function held at Singjamei Oinam Thingel in Imphal West district, on Saturday.
The event under the banner "Shaknairaba Artist Shingbu Ikai Khumanaba Utchaba" was held at the residence of Oinam Romen Singh, who is preparing to contest in the upcoming state assembly elections 2022 from Singjamei assembly constituency Modern, classical, folk, instrumental, film and drama artistes were honoured with presentation of shawl, citation, memento and cash reward sponsored by Oinam Romen.
During his speech, Romen said that artistes have been playing a vital role in today's society.
They are part and parcel of humanity.
Their art cannot be separated from us.
Their work is about connecting with people's emotions.
Artistes play a different role and contribute to the well-being of the society as a whole, so honouring them is a must, he added.
Romen clarified said that organising the function to honour the artistes is not related with politics.
He has no intension of taking any political mileage from such event.
It is the continuation of honouring different outstanding personalities of the constituency.
It is his sole duty to honour such individuals in acknowledgement of their contributions to the society, he asserted.
Romen further said that he has been extending assistance to different underprivileged people of the constituency since the last seven years along with launching widow's pension scheme, monthly pension scheme for differently-abled persons, meritorious awards and scholarships for students of the constituency.
Altogether 154 artistes from diverse fields were honoured during the event organised by New Development Organisation, Singjamei (NDOS) .
