Imphal, August 10 2025:
Amid efforts being made to improve the education sector in the state, a staff working in the Examination Controller Block of Manipur University was found working as an assistant professor of an aided college affiliated to the University under Education (U), claimed Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) education and academic affairs secretary Nandita Ngasepam.
In a press meet held at AIMS office in Kwakeithel on Sunday, Nandita said that one W Indira, who is wife of a professor holding an important post in MU, was not only working in the PhD Section of the Examination Controller's office of the University, but also serving as an assistant professor at Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' College, Khurai Salanthong.
Questioning how the College Development Council of MU allowed a person to hold two jobs despite having all the data of staff of colleges affiliated to the University; Nandita demanded authority concerned to investigate the matter and punish all those involved.
She also said AIMS would be filing a complaint to the Vigilance Department to have the individual return the salaries she had received for the two jobs.
Stating that the matter has deepened suspicions of some teachers in aided colleges working in other sectors, she urged MU and Education (U) to look closely into the matter.
