Lups extend aid to Jiribam relief camps

Jiribam, July 10 2024:
A joint team of Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL) and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup (UANL) on Tuesday visited relief camps in Jiribam district and provided monetary assistance and other relief items.
Speaking to media persons at the relief camp opened at Jiribam Higher Secondary School, UAL general secretary Samom Dhurba informed that the visit is to show solidarity with "our brothers and sisters in their time of need" .
While opining that visit to the relief camps by political leaders from the centre be it BJP or Congress creating uneasy situation among the camp residents, the secretary asked all concerned not to politicise on plight of the internally displaced people.
Dhurba also conveyed that instead of political one-upmanship over the conflict, all must unite to end violence and restore peace in the state.
He further stressed that politicians should desist from indulging in politics on the issue, while calling upon all to strife for restoring peace in the state, similar to the 10 Kuki MLAs who are united in pursuance of their demand.
The visiting team comprising two UAL and three UNAL members, was accompanied by representatives of various organisations operating in the district.
