PREPAK to observe Martyrs Day on Nov 12

Imphal, November 09 2022: The proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) will be observing 'Martyrs Day-Athoubasing Gi Ningsing Numit' on November 12 in honour of the martyred revolutionaries.

On the occasion, the outfit and its armed wing Red Army paid highest regard to all martyred revolutionaries and prayed for their souls to remain in peace.

According to a PREPAK statement, the outfit has been observing 'Athoubasing Gi Ningsing Numit' every year on November 12 since 1979 to remember the sudden attack carried out by a combined team of CRPF and Manipur police at a transit camp of the outfit located at Leimarok near Kameng on November 12, 1978 wherein outfit's Dhiren and Kabikanta along with a PLA cadre named Gambhir was killed.

The day also coincided with the November 12, 1985 firing incident at Kabowakching sugar factory in which outfit's then supreme commander RK Tulachandra alias Loyataba laid down his life for the cause of the people of Kangleipak, it recounted.

While appealing to people to offer prayers for the martyred souls by lighting candle at every gate in the evening, the proscribed outfit also called upon people to stop all forms of entertainment on November 12.The PREPAK statement issued by its charge-de-affairs of publicity and propaganda Leibaak Ngaakpa Luwang further said that imperialist India has been suppressing 'Kanglei' people under the shadow of democracy for the past 73 years though freedom under Indian democracy is meant for only few sections of people.

While reiterating that imperialist India forcibly merged Kangleipak on October 15, 1949 and Kanglei people have the right to self-determination as per the UN Charter, the PREPAK statement said that the outfit will continue to fight for right to self-determination of Kanglei people.

While stating that no country of the world should stand against Kanglei people's right to self-determination, the PREPAK statement pointed out that many colonised countries like Namibia from South Africa, Marshall Island have regained freedom from the US, Hanna Caroline Island Miconesia from the US, Eritrea from Ethiopia, Kosovo from Serbia, South Sudan from Sudan.

Apart from this, 28 independent nations emerged in the later part of the 20th century.

When USSR broke apart, 15 independent nations emerged while five sovereign and independent nations emerged when Yugoslavia disintegrated.

In the same manner, internal conflict prevails in Syria, Arab and African nations and more sovereign nations will emerge in due course of time, the PREPAK statement said and called upon the people to wage a collective revolutionary movement to regain sovereign status of Kangleipak.
