SAHS SC visits relief camp, offers support to IDPs

Imphal, July 08 2024: In an outreach initiative, members of the Student Council of Shija Academy, of Health Sciences (SAHS), Langol, on Monday visited the Leimaram Girls' Hostel Relief Camp, which is sheltering individuals displaced due to the ongoing conflict in the state.

The visit organised with the support and initiation of the Medical College Authority, especially the director of SAHS, aimed to provide essential supplies and support to the displaced people.

In a statement, SAHS informed that th'e relief camp, which houses those affected by the conflict, received donations of basic necessities collected from a fundraising event organised by the Student Council of SAHS in November 2023.The supplies were distributed to meet the daily needs of the camp's residents.

During their visit, the SAHS Student Council members engaged in close interactions with the camp residents, learning about their arrival at the camp, their living conditions, methods of sustenance, children's education, general health, medical emergencies, and psychological well-being.

The stories shared by the displaced individuals left a profound impact on the visiting students.

"The experiences and challenges narrated by the camp residents deeply touched us," said a member of the Student Council.

"As a student community, we appeal to everyone to extend their support to these displaced individuals who are enduring such unfortunate circumstances.

We fervently pray for a swift resolution to the conflict so that everyone can live in harmony once again," the statement said.
