Police, CSOs join World Environment Day observance

Imphal, June 05 2021: BISHNUPUR: Tree plantation drives and distribution of tree saplings, among several other programmes marked the observance of World Environment Day in several districts across the state on Saturday.

Bishnupur Forest Division in relation to World Environment Day carried out tree sapling plantation on the theme 'Ecosystem Restoration' at Bishnupur New Secretariat complex.

Bishnupur DC Krishnakumar, DFO Dr Rebika Soibam Cha- nu, ADM H Bobby Sharma, Bishnupur DRDA CEO L Manikanta and SDO among several others participated in the tree plantation programme.

For this year, Bishnupur Forest Division is targeting to plant around 5000 saplings in areas under its jurisdiction including Tuikhan Aimol, Tingkai Khunou, Sadar Joute and Maha Kabui, among others.

On the other hand, a 12-year-old environment enthusiast Ambika Laishram from Huidrom Mayai Leikai, Imphal East distributed tree saplings to residents of Torbung under Bishnupur district and also planted several trees on Saturday.

The saplings distributed were nurtured by her.

KAKCHING: Word Environment Day observance was carried out in several locations across Kakching district on Saturday.

Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar along with Kakching DC D Gangmei planted several fruit trees at the former's residence located at Kakching Makha Lou, Irum Ningthou Pareng.

Similarly, Kakching District Administration organised tree plantation drive at Kakching Mini Secretariat Complex under the leadership of Kakching DC D Gangmei to mark the observance of World Environment Day.

Kakching additional SP (Law and Order) Yumnam Joyraj, range forest officer and Lions Club Kakching Greater president Norem Munal Meitei, Kakching District Journalist Association president Uttamkumar Naoren, Kakching Police personnel, forest staff and members of CSOs participated in the programme.

Moreover, Kakching District Health Department under the leadership of CMO Kakching Dr Thaodem Rajen observed World Environment Day by planting saplings in different Health Centres of Kakching.

On the other hand, Alliance for Development Alternatives-Manipur (ADAM) Kakching jointly with Angaan Ching Eco Park Kakching management committee planted saplings to mark World Environment Day observance.

In relation to the World Environment Day, staff of Kakching Range officer and Pallel Beat office disposed several bird catching nets recovered in drive from Sora Ching area by burning on Saturday.

Four bird nets recovered from the area by forest staff were disposed by burning in front of the public.

THOUBAL: Tekcham Educational and Sports Association Tekcham Maning Ching, Progressive United Club Organisation (PUCO) Khongjom Circle and Langathel Zilla Parishad jointly carried out tree plantation drive under the theme 'Ecosystem Restoration' on Saturday.

Around 300 saplings were planted in the drive.

CHANDEL: District Police Chandel under the leadership of Chandel SP N Madhumani carried out tree plantation drive at District Police HQ located at New Khongjon during observance of World Environment Day.

Around 100 saplings were planted during the drive.
