RPI will support BJP: Ramdas Athawale

BJP would win with huge majority and form the government after the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election and Republican Party of India (Athawale) will extend support to the government, stated Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment and RPI national president Ramdas Athawale.
Disclosing this during a press conference held on Wednesday at Classic Grande, Ramdas Athawale said that RPI and BJP are NDA allies and hence the party will extend support to the BJP government.
RPI will field its own candidates in the upcoming election, he said and declared that party's state unit president and national secretary Thounaojam Meheshor will its candidate in Keishamthong AC.
According to Ramdas Athawale, RPI is planning to field around 10 candidates in the assembly election and the party's candidates in Lamlai and Oinam assembly constituencies will be announced shortly followed by candidates for other constituencies.
He also said that RPI workers will support BJP candidates in assembly segments where RPI will not contest.
A discussion in this regard will also be held with chief minister N Biren, he added.
The RPI national president also said that chief minister Biren has taken up various development works under the aegis of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is giving special emphasis to North East region.
He also noted that PM Modi announced development projects worth more than Rs 4,800 crore during his recent visit and the state would move to the path of speedy development when these projects are fully implemented.
While claiming that BJP would win in four states in the upcoming assembly elections, Ramdas condemned the alleged violation of protocol by Punjab government when Prime Minister Modi visited the north Indian state on Wednesday.
He said that PM Narendra Modi's carcade was stuck in traffic jam for several hours as Punjab government did not deploy state force for PM's security.
Meanwhile, he declared that his ministry is giving special focus in the northeast states including Manipur in the implementation of various social security schemes.
Athawale who arrived here on a two-day visit addressed a press conference after reviewing central sponsored schemes being implemented in the state under his ministry.
The Union Minister said that his ministry has released Rs 195.43 crore under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) scheme during the 2014-22 and benefited a total of 10.18 lakh people.
A total of 3.52 lakh people have been benefited by providing loans under PMMY amounting to Rs 1881.07 crore in the state during the period 2015-22 till date.
Free LPG connection has been provided to about 1.79 lakhs below poverty line families in the state, the Union minister added.
The ministry has also released required funds for construction of 16,000 houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) and 6,000 houses under PMAY (Urban) during the same period, he said, adding that under Ujala Yojana, three lakh LED bulbs have been provided to the beneficiaries at subsidised rates.
