Source: Chronicle News Service

Kangpokpi, November 04 2021: BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson Ch Ajang Khongsai has declared his candidacy for the forthcoming assembly election from Saikul assembly constituency in a function held at Lhungjang village on Thursday.

The 59-year-old intending candidate said he has high expectation of getting the BJP ticket to contest the election with his vision and missibn "Saikul Semgatsi'.

Ajang assured that he will not let his Saikul Semgatsi' mission to go in vain if he is elected as the people's representative in the Assembly.

The candidacy declaration of Ajang and the blessing ceremony was organised by Khongsai Inpi General Headquarters at his Lhungjang village.

The Khongsai community under the aegis of Khongsai Inpi led by elders and leaders prayed for Ch Ajang Khongsai arid blessed him for his success in the upcoming election.

Ajang, who was formerly National People's Party (NPP) Manipur working president, said that everyone is well aware of the past elections in Saikul which, he said, were not 'Election' but Selection' through intimidation and money power and none of the elected MLAs from the constituency were not natives of the AC.

Ajang Khongsai further said that if people want to experience the true change and development in Saikul, it is time for them'to choose the right person at the right time for the right reason with the right experience, while exhorting the people that they should be the change that they want to see for Saikul.

Talking about the need for changes in Saikul, he stressed that the need of the hour is to elect the candidate, who is born and brought up in Saikul, and can make genuine effort to fulfil the needs of the people.

He also said that the people of Saikul Assembly Constituency must now look for an educated, dedicated and social-minded person to be the member of Manipur Legislative Assembly in 2022 as their representative.

Ajang asserted that choosing the right person is most important for the people of Saikul in view of a delimitation exercise in 2026 to adjust boundaries of the exist -ing Lok Sabria and Legislative Assembly seats in the state, while adding that just as it is the responsibility of the elected leaders to take care of the well-being of the voters, it is the bounden duty of the people to choose the right leader as their representative.

Ch Ajang Khongsai had served in various civil society organisations and political parties.

He served as president of All Tribal Colleges Students' Union Imphal, president of KSO Manipur, secretary of Khongsai Union Manipur, secretary of Imphal Kuki Christian Welfare Committee, president of Khongsai Inpi General Headquarters, etc.

He was the general secretary of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Manipur in 2005-2006 and served as general secretary of National People's Party (NPP) Manipur in 2007-2012 and became the national general secretary cum president of NPP Manipur in 2012-2015 before he served as the working president of NPP Manipur in 2015-2020 .

Changsan Ajang Khongsai, popularly known as Ch Ajang Khongsai completed his graduation in History honours.

Saikul Assembly Constituency has around 27,495 eligible voters as per the latest electoral roll 2021 and the voters consist of Kukis, Nepalis, Meiteis and Nagas.
