TUC questions Govt's commitment

Imphal, May 21 2023: Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) president Pratap Leishangthem on Sunday flagged off a team of TUC and its women wing to assist the people displaced by the violence and gathered at relief camps across the state, from Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen in DMU campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Pratap denounced the silence of the 50 MLAs with regard to the violence.

He said that the MLAs should make their stand clear to the masses, while further questioning the silence of other communities when matters of disintegrating Manipur has been raised.

Now is not the time to stay silent, he added.

He continued that the Meitei community has always fought for the unity of the state.

The BJP government should wake up and if they are unable to do anything, they should lay bare the truth to the people.

TUC is prepared to deal with the violence, he said, while adding that Club will continue to extend all possible help to those affected by the violence.

later, the TUC members extended monetary as-sistance to Oinam Commander of Chingmei Awang Leikai near Keibul Lamjao, presently residing at Moirang Hanuba Leikai.

Commander was struck by one of the bullets fired by Indian Army while obstructing the latter from drawing rice from FCI, Sangaiprou on May 5 and is currently undergoing treatment at Asian Hospital.

Relief items distributed, medical camps held IMPHAL: Akhil Bharatiya Vidy-arthi Parishad (ABVP) Manipur distributed relief items includ-ing edibles and sanitary pads to relief camps set up at Moirang Thangjing guest house, Moi-rang College, Keibul, Laisoi, Ngangkhalawai, Sunusiphai, Phubala, Thamnapokpi, Sek-mai and Henjunaha Club.

Similarly, Meckley Royal Riders for the second time or-ganised free medical camp at relief camps set up at Kumbi High School, Pukhao Taret-khul and distributed medicines while Keithelmanbi Battalion Assam Rifles provided medical assistance to the locals of Mai-bam village, Nambol.
