Old Secretariat to have office of Governor

Imphal, February 19 2025:
With Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla assuming control of the state's administration following the imposition of President's Rule and suspension of the state assembly, hectic preparations are underway to set up the Governor's office at the Old Secretariat, here.
Reliable sources indicated that office chambers of former minister Letpao Haokip and former minister Basanta Kumar at the Old secretariat are likely to house the upcoming Governor's office.
Office chambers of ministers earlier located at both the Old and New secretariats have been vacated and accordingly, parking of vehicles including public vehicles has been restricted on the roadside in front of the secretariat office.
In a similar arrangement, parking of vehicles belonging to office-goers is allowed on the roadside opposite the secretariat office and vehicles are restricted inside the secretariat complex.
Following the arrangement, traffic congestion has eased on the road in front of the secretariat complex.
On the other hand, office chambers of most of the ministers at both the New and Old secretariats have been vacated.
Notably, former ministers Y Khemchand, K Govindas, Letpao Haokip, Khasim Vashum and Th Basanta Kumar had their office chambers at the New Secretariat while former ministers Nemcha Kipgen, Awangbow Newmai, H Dingo, Th Biswajit, S Ranjan and L Susindro had their offices at the Old secretariat.
