NPF tongue-lashes at Ibobi Govt

The political awareness campaign of the Naga Peoples' Front (NPF), Manipur State at Senapati district headquarterson Friday was dominated by the party leaders giving tongue lashing to the Congress led Manipur government for all the ails in the state.
Rising cases of drug trafficking, rampant rape and murder incidents, violence and other unlawful activitie.
Some NPF leaders trained their guns on the Ibobi Singh led government for alleged discrimination against the tribal people.
The District Level Political Awareness Campaign was held at Multi-Purpose Hall, Senapati where the induction of new office bearers of divisional and areas in the three constituencies of Karong, Mao and Tadubi was also carried.
NPF, Manipur State president and former minister Soso Lorho administered the oath of secrecy.
The mega event was also attended by MLA Victor Nunghlung, MLA L.Dikho and MLA Dr.V.Alexander Pao, NPF central vice-president Zaku, Sword Vashum, working president NPF Manipur,NPF's Youth wing president Robert Maram, district president R.V Shirang, former MLAs K.Raina, Dr.Khasim Ruivah, A.Aza, O.Lohrii and village leaders along with NPF zonal leaders from Saikul, Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Chandel and other places.
The party has also decided to go to grass root level to campaign against the 'misrule' of the present Congress led Manipur government.
Speaking at the event, former minister A.Aza who is now the advisor to NPF, Manipur State lashed out at the government of Manipur for lawlessness.
"The government is too concerned about developing some sections of the state at the expense of the tribals in the hill districts", A.Aza accused.
Former MLA K.Raina questioned the 'injustice meted out' to the tribal people in Manipur saying, "There has been a big different when comes to developmental works in the hills and the valley." K Raina questioned as to who is communal whether the NPF or the Congress led state government.
Dr.Khasim Ruivah briefed on the history of the Indo-Naga conflict and defended the position of the Nagas' rights for self-determination.
He also detailed the ceasefire between the Naga revolutionary groups and the government of India to facilitate the peace process.
MLA Victor Nunghlung alleged that the state government is discriminating the tribal MLAs.
He also seconded the view of K Raina about the differences on the developmental work between the hills and the valley.
NPF Central vice-president Zaku recalled the formation of NPF in 1963 during the height of Indo-Naga conflict in which many Nagas were killed.
"The NPF party is not only a political party but a party to work for the cause of the Nagas with special emphasis to the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process", Zaku stated while adding, "However, the NPF is willing to work together with other communities irrespective of tribes, groups, race or colour." The NPF leader while congratulating the new office bearers who were inducted during the occasion also said that, party workers are the roots of the NPF tree which will determine the strength and weakness of the party.
Manipur unit NPF president Soso Lorho reaffirmed the determination of the NPF party to invest all efforts for bringing solution to the much delayed Indo-Naga peace process.
Speaking on similar tone with other NPF leaders, Soso Lorho said that the NPF is for the people irrespective of any community.
"For its name one cannot term it as communal," Soso Lorho clarified while adding, "It is a political party which desires to unite and strengthen the political cause of the Nagas and the tribals" .
NPF Manipur State secretary Athuan Abonmai stated that, the NPF Manipur is now ready to penetrate in the areas of Sadar Hills and Churachandpur district of Manipur.
The ongoing District Level Political Awareness Campaign will very soon begin its awareness campaign in constituencies and divisional level to strengthen the party from the grass root level, Athuan Abonmai added.
