SDPO, OC discharged from personal appearance

The SDPO and OC of Porompat police station have been discharged from personal appearance in connection with a sou moto case initiated by the Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC).
The case was registered by MHRC with its registry as the complainant and Manipur DGP and others as respondents.
During a surprise visit to Porompat police station, MHRC cases pending for 10 to 30 years, including 13 rape cases and 22 related to murders.
MHRC issued a notice including the FIRs of the pending cases on May 7 .
Porompat police station SDPO and OC appeared and presented status report pertaining to the suo moto case.
specifying that out of 13 rape cases, charge sheets of 4 cases have been filed and the final reports of 9 cases submitted as no evidence related to rape could be collected.
Of the 22 murder cases, charge sheets of 9 cases have been submitted with final reports of 13 submitted.
Along with directing the DGP to inform all the OCs of police station to complete the investigation of the rape and murder cases at an early date so that rights of citizens can be protected and justice delivered, MHRC closed the suo moto case.
