Emesiiphro village celebrates 25 years of growth, unity

Emesiiphro village celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its establishment on Saturday with a grand celebration under the theme, "Celebrating Our Roots in God's Faithfulness; Onwards to Greatness Through Unity".
The event was attended by Mao MLA Losii Dikho as the chief guest, and Inter state Council Secretariat, Ministry of Home Affairs secretary K Moses Chalai as the guest of honour.
Other distinguished guests included Senapati DC Mamoni Doley, ADC CEO Adahrii Maheo, ADC former chairman A Kapani; Mao Council president N Athikho Joseph, and TA & Hills retired joint director N Kaikho Kapa.
Address the gathering, MLA Losii Dikho commended the village's reputation as an emerging model village.

Recognising the presence of representatives from various Mao villages in Emesiiphro, he expressed optimism for its continued development and the potential to serve as a benchmark for other communities.
He also spoke about the importance of environmental conservation, particularly wildlife preservation, calling the same as a crucial means to maintain a clean and sustainable environment.
On development front, MLA Dikho encouraged the villagers to turn their village into an education hub, promote entrepreneurship, and strengthen religious values to create a thriving community capable of attracting tourism through exemplary hospitality.
Providing a historical overview of the village's formation, Emesiiphro headman Th Kashipri Chalai stated that the village was founded on a vision with the principles of perseverance, and collective determination.
"Strategically located within the district headquarters of Senapati, approximately 2.5 km south of the district secretariat along the western slopes of NH-2, the village symbolises the aspirations of the Mao community for unity and progress".
He said that the village's inception dates back to the mid-1990s when a group of visionary Mao intellectuals initiated efforts to establish a recognised Mao village within the district headquarters.
"This vision materialised in 2000, and the village headman credited the land donors from neighbouring villages for their generous contributions," Th Kashipri informed.
In his address, N Athikho congratulated the village on behalf of the Mao community, emphasising the importance of upholding faith in God, asserting that true prosperity is unattainable without divine blessings.
He exuded that the village would advance towards a golden era through unity, aligning with the event's theme.
Noting that Emesiiphro is often referred to as a model village, he encouraged its residents to aspire towards becoming a "smart village" in the near future.
K Moses related his per-sonal connection to Emesiiphro village, describing it as a well-planned settlement.
He highlighted the meticulous planning involved in its development, including structured road networks, designated residential plots, and a sustainable water supply system.
Expressing his vision for the village's transformation into a commercial hub, he urged the community to adopt a longterm perspective, planning for 200-300 years ahead, akin to metropolitan cities worldwide.
A key highlight of the programme was the unveiling of the Silver Jubilee monolith by MLA Dikho, followed by the hoisting of the Jubilee flag by the village headman and the ceremonial Jubilee lighting led by the guest of honour.
DC Mamoni released the Jubilee Souvenir during the event.
As part of the celebration, the villagers honoured all married women originally from Emesiiphro by presenting them with gifts.
The Celebration featured a variety of cultural performances, showcasing the rich heritage of the community, attended by leaders from various district civil society organisations, apex Mao village bodies, women's and student associations, as well as village chiefs and chairmen from neighbouring villages.
The event concluded with a grand Jubilee feast.
