New UG group SOREPA floated
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, October 03 2021: A new armed revolutionary outfit named Socialist Revolutionary Party (SOREPA), Kangleipak has been floated and an Interim Central Committee of the outfit formed with ex-vice chairman of KYKL Toijam: Ibochou as its convener.

Interim Central Committee convener Toijam Ibochou, in a statement, also placed outfit's thought and objectives to the people for discussion.

SOREPA believes that it is impossible to carry forward revolutionary movement without having a clear-cut revolutionary doctrine and the foundation of revolutionary movement in Manipur was based on Kanglei/Manipuri nationalism.

Fnitial wave of the revolutionary movement in Manipur was very strong and popular but nationalism alone cannot bring freedom of a society/nation, Toijam Ibochou said in the statement.

While observing that revolutionary movement needs to be carried forward with a right system, Toijam Ibochou said that revolutionary movement in Manipur could not move forward without having a scientific political thought and stressed the need for sustaining the revolutionary movement in Kangleipak/Manipur with policies and strategies suitable to soil of the land.

Most people have forgotten that the revolutionary movement should go forward based on Marxism-Leninism-Maoism preserving identity of the Kanglei/Manipuri people.

Money and muscle power may suppress the true revolutionary movement for a while but not in the long run.

Many are deserting the revolutionary movement due to present nature of revolution and inability to carry forward the revolution to the right path.

The convener affirmed that in-spite of its separation from the KYKL due to ideological differences, SOREPA would not disrespect the former as it is indebted to the KYKL, for teaching the new outfit the importance and experience of a revolutionary movement.

While informing that SOREPA was established to regain the independence of Kangleipak/Manipur in the Western South East Asia (WESEA) along with like-minded revolutionary outfits with a strong belief in scientific socialism as the way forward, he said that SOREPA's motto is "Socialism with Kanglei (Manipuri) federal characteristic".

He maintained that the spirit of nationalism may be in the pulse of the people but shouldering responsibility of the nation should be under a right system.

The convener farther-said that involvement in electoral politics, striving for profits, and practice of nepotism would not be beneficial to the revolutionary movement.

While observing that Manipur is a melting pot and cradle of different independent cultures, Ibochou said that India sowed the seed of colonialism as it did not respect Manipur's independence from the British.

He contended that the imposition of Indian electoral politics created a 'National Contradiction' with Manipur and it delved into the effect of liberal politics while maintaining that it has created chaos in society.

Ibochou also compared the handling of COVID-19 by the western countries and China and the difference in the impact on their economic advancement.

The SOREPA convener also delved into the alleged nexus between revolutionary outfits or individuals who act like revolutionaries and electoral politics, accusing some of the sponsored candidates and turning the legislative assembly into a profit-making institute.

He further contended that both the Nehruvian approach and Hindutva are two sides of the same coin promoting 'Indian imperialism' .
