Imphal, June 16 2017:
Moirangthem Tombi, former State President of Janata Dal-United (JD-U) has started attending office as the president of Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit today.
Speaking to media persons at a felicitation programme organised at Shiv Sena State Office at Babupara, M Tombi assured to try his best and fulfil the party's objective.
He explained that since 2007, under the leadership of Shiv Sena's North East Observer Dilip Paniker , the party began to make its presence felt in the North East States although it was greeted with mild success in Manipur.
He pointed out that he was called to Delhi by the party leaders on June 11 and was given charge as the president of the party's State unit.
Tombi also stated that Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Anant Geete, party president Uddhav Thackery and general secretary Anil Desai would arrive at Imphal within July 20 .
He further said that Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit appreciates the new State Government's initiative to curb drug abuse in the State as well as the steps to resolve tension and conflict and the declaration of the 15th of every month as Meeyamgi Numit.
"However", he said, "the party would monitor and analyse every step taken by the Government from time to time" .
Replying to a query, Tombi said that he left JD-U because of lack of attention towards the State issues by the party's Central leaders as well as failure to provide party tickets for the 11th Manipur Assembly election despite sending the names of 10 candidates.
