PREPAK to observe Resist Day today
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, April 25 2023: In commemoration of the infamous Patsoi firing incident of April 26, 1980 as well as the series of atrocities committed by Indian security forces against civilians in Kangleipak (Manipur) under the shadow of numerous black laws, the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) will be observing its '10th Indian Colonialism Resist Day' on April 26.The commemorative event will be held at outfit's CHQ, GHQ, THQ, transit camps, training centres and other units, a PREPAK statement said and called upon people to stand united and raise voice against atrocities committed by Indian forces against civilians in Kangleipak.

According to the PREPAK statement issued by its publicity and propaganda charge-de-affairs' Leibaak-Ngaakpa Luwang, people of Kangleipak became slaves and have been living without the sense of ownership ever since India forcibly occupied the erstwhile sovereign nation.

The present state of division as well as the lack of trust, ownership and unity among the Kanglei people are all re suits of self-adoption of Hindu religion and the inability to understand own identity.

As long as Kangleipak continues to be part of India and adopt foreign culture and tradition, the Kanglei people will remain as slaves without the sense of ownership.

Smashing the cage of Indian culture and administration is the only way for the Kanglei people to wriggle out of this subjugation and save the motherland which will be possible when people are united, the PREPAK statement said.

Located on the north of Tropic of Cancer and slightly on the west of the Great Triangle, Kangleipak is blessed with nature's bounties and have rich forest and natural resources.

However, vast forest areas of the land have uprooted in the past few years due to erroneous administration and the society which has forgotten the sense of ownership.

Though the numbers of reserved forests have increased from 20 to 54 apart from the existence of 22 protected forests, there is no real forest in Kangleipak as reserved forest and protected forest exist for namesake only now.

Though primary forest constitutes 10 percent of the globe, there is no primary forest in Kangleipak and the new generation of Kanglei people would not be able to see primary forest.

This indeed is alarming and indicates that Kanglei people are entering into a dangerous phase, the PREPAK statement said.

Asking as to how the bald Koubru range and other hills in Senapati on the north, Thangjing range on the west to bald hills in Tamenglong, Churachandpur and Chandel could be termed primary forest now, PREPAK said that the traditional forest conservation activities as practiced by forefathers of the land have been broken by colonial policy and Kangleipak is now the land without owner.

On the other hand, Kanglei people continue to suffer a lot due to various oppressive policies of India.

To completely uproot Kanglei people from the globe, India continues to impose numerous draconian laws including Armed Forces' Special Powers Act, 1958 in Kangleipak, the PREPAK statement said adding that forcing out Indian forces (IOF) from Kangleipak is the only way for the Kanglei people to save from open and covert oppressive policies.

The outfit then called upon people to stand united and collectively raise voice to force out IOF from Kangleipak.
